A-kon Console Gaming Room Guidelines

Parking can vary per day at the surrounding parking lots during A-kon, so bring at least $50 just in case.

There are quite a few restaurants located near the console room, so bring some money if you wish to eat down there, or, talk to your team to see if they want to go in on pizza, snacks, etc. Take note, you cannot eat in the console room.

Make sure you arrive at least 15 min. early for your shift, and report in at the Registration desk with your Shift Leader. If you need to leave, inform your Shift Leader, and sign out at the Registration desk. There are NO exceptions!

Now,we know that emergencies do happen, so if you have a verifiable reason that prevents you from completing your shift, inform the Shift Leader and sign out with the reason noted at the Registration desk. Note: we will follow up on the issue, and if it was not true, you will be reported to A-kon Security, your badge revoked, your items removed from the crash space, and placed on our permanent "bad" list!

We will have 2 keys available to each room, 1 will stay at the reg desk for emergencies, and the other will be held by your Shift Leader for check-in/check-out by staff. If you will be in the crash space for more than 15 minutes, inform your Shift Leader of this, so that they have a person escort you to the crash space and bring the key back.

Special Events/Tournaments

Most of the events for SuperCon are free, so we are expecting a large amount of people coming in for those events. If it gets too crowded, the Shift Leads are instructed to slow down the amount of visitors that come into the room/register, Fire Code trumps EVERYTHING!

If a special event is anticipated to be a HUGE DRAW of people; we will accommodate as many people as we can, and we will be making a line for a limited amount of people as well. That said, if gets too busy/hectic, we will shut off the flow of people coming into the console room. Once again, Fire Code trumps EVERYTHING!

Do not play casual games or play in tournaments unless you have obtained permission to do so from your Shift Leader or DFWGames Officers. That said, if you are not on shift, you may do as you like, though make note that you must pay for any tournament that requires an entry fee on your own.

Equipment
Shift Leaders, Event Crews, Equipment Handlers, and DFWGames Officers are the only people that are allowed to change equipment at stations (games, consoles, etc.) All changes at stations must be noted at the Registration area. Once event is done, the original equipment, with the possible exception of games, must be place back at the station in working order.

For gamers that want to use tournament fight sticks/controllers, they are allowed to use their personal equipment in which they are solely resoponsible for. Otherwise, there may be some “house sticks” available at the registration area for use. Those will be checked-in/out via the collateral system, simply put we must hold on to something of value to the person checking the item out, such as a driver’s license, cell phone, etc.

Security

If there is loose equipment on a station, take it over to the Registration Area for notation and to be secured.

Backpacks or large bags are allowed to brought into the room, as well as small items such as purses, but it is under the rule  that it is to be searched when they leave the room, no exceptions.

Tournament players may bring their own custom controller for their event. The Game Leader and Event Crews are to collect and secure the original controller not being used until the need arises to place it back.

We will have a BYOC (Bring Your Own Console) area in the console room this year. The space will be limited to one small section and is a first come first serve basis. The owner of the equipment is solely responsible for damaged/missing items.

Other Items Of Interest

All personnel are to keep trash off the stations and the registration area as much as possible.

Finally, promote teamwork within your shift and the crew, and have fun!
